Getting Inside the Mind of Roby Muhammad

Roby Muhammad, a very successful entrepreneur and research, was born on 17 May 1975 in Bandung, West Java. Roby is the youngest of four siblings from Prof. Dr. Wahyu Karhiwikarta and Dr. Hanariah Wahyu. One thing that is very interesting from a person like Roby Muhammad is that he studied Physics for his Bachelor but then he decided to continue his study in Sociology until he got his doctoral degree. Growing up among educated family has impact his decision a lot. The curiosity he has is also what lued him to the path he have chosen. Roby is also unique that he doesn’t want to define himself ats a successful man but ‘The Lucky One’ ( Adzra ) .

To add, we are very interested in knowing more about Mr. Roby’s background in being the co-founder of location based social network application called Yogrt. Though, most people use it as a dating application nowadays, that was not the intended purposes why the app was created in the first place. The original idea was to make a social network application for middle to low society. What makes it unique was the fact that you are starting from 0 friend, and will gradually ‘socialize’ with those around you with the location based system, unlike any other social network apps where you can invite or follow your friends first. Turns out, it also went in line with his education. (Natasya)

Roby first completed his undergraduate education in 1988 at the Bandung Institute of Technology in physics. At ITB, he researched about Stephan Hawking. Then, he continued his field of study at tertiary institutions in the field of theoretical physics. After that, Roby went on to sociology taking a mask program at Columbia University in New York and continued his studies at the same doctoral and university levels. Then, in 2010, he managed to obtain a doctorate in the Department of Sociology. After completing her studies in New York, she returned to Indonesia and became a teaching staff at the Faculty of Psychology at the University of Indonesia (Harumi) .
